GUIDED IMAGERY
What exactly is guided imagery? It is a form of directed daydreaming, a way of using the imagination very specifically to help heal the mind and body. Another way of putting it would be that it is a form of relaxation and meditation that brings about immediate results. Any of the sensory impressions: sight, sounds, smells, taste or touch is also considered to be imagery. These sensory images are the true language of the body and it understands it immediately.
Imagery is as much a part of our everyday lives as thoughts, words and feelings. Images have a way of bringing forth more accurate, truer information than thoughts and ideas.
Now if you will, close your eyes and imagine your house. Can you see the front door? Open the door and look inside. What does the front room look like? Who will greet you there? This is how imagery starts.
Imagery can be used for multiple issues. Improving sports performance, reduce and manage pain, reduce and manage stress, problem solving, mid life crisis, a compliment to medical care, and help you figure out what path in life to take next, just to name a few.
A loosely woven story provides the framework and your imagination has the ability to quickly fill in the details. The symbols you pick, or the details you choose, reflect the knowledge of your subconscious mind. Our body knows what it needs, and it knows what is right for us.
